Orbitz has launched a new service they call the Hotel Price Assurance. This is meant to assure you as a traveler that the pre-paid price you pay at Orbitz.com is the lowest you can find, even if the price subsequently drops. Here's how it works:

Start by booking the hotel you want with a pre-paid rate.

If another Orbitz customer later on books the same hotel stay at a cheaper hotel rate, Orbitz will automatically give you back the difference.

Where this is really cool is the automatic part. Yes, you don't even have to email them. Sounds like a brilliant idea, and certainly worth trying. Just don't go booking a more expensive hotel room than you'd normally do, with a view to get a discount later. Most likely, you'll end up disappointed.

Now, what I'm wondering is if anyone has actually be able to take advantage of this yet?
