A really quick way to get to know the city is to take a hop-on, hop-off bus tour.

Central Park is not only the world’s best known park, it’s also a tourist destination in itself. Rub shoulders with New Yorkers on the Mall or have a meal at one of the restaurants in the park. Or simply bring a picnic and spend a few hours.
