Travel organizers keep your stuff handy

Tickets, print outs, passport, keys, money... A traveler's pockets can fill up pretty quick and it gets quite difficult to find anything. I'm a recent convert to using a travel organizer, and it's made things easier.

Victorinox Travel Organizer

Victorinox Travel OrganizerThe Victorinox Travel Organizer will hold your stuff with a bit of Swiss style. Made out of a tough nylon fabric, it has 7 credit / business card slots, a large currency pocket that will also hold plane tickets, zippered pockets to hold coins and small items, and so on. It also comes in a bright red color for those who like to stand out a bit, or more modest silver and black versions.

Inside, there's a semi-rigid plastic sheet which keeps everything neat and crease free. Being made by Victorinox it also comes with a lifetime guarantee, which will be honored. The cost is about $30 including shipping. The rest of Victorinox travel gear is really good as well.

Venturer Travel Portfolio Bag

The Venturer Travel Portfolio Bag by Wild SydeThe Venturer Travel Portfolio Bag is a bit cheaper than the Victorinox travel organizer. Made out of sturdy canvas and lined with nylon fabric, this organizer will hold your credit cards, notes, documents and so on with ease. It also has a large pencil sleeve, a waterproof inner pocket (that's very handy), hidden pockets... Feedback from owners is quite good.

Highly functional, comes in 3 colors (olive drab, olive, and black), and costs about $12 including shipping. Wild Syde, the makers, also do a range of other practical bags.

These things do make it easier while on the road, it only takes moments to get to the itinerary and those all-important flight numbers. Or your friend's phone number, the one who was supposed to be at the airport but is probably stuck in traffic. Even at home mine has helped me, as I keep all the extra currency and my passports in it all the time, right there in my desk drawer.

I am a student at an online division of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and whenever I travel, I take my class materials and my laptop with me, as the classes are year-round. The article doesn't say how big the Venturer Travel Portfolio Bag is but if it can carry a 17" laptop, all the better. Still, even if it is too small for that, because I am disabled and in a wheelchair when I travel, this seems like a useful piece of luggage for me.

Louise, the organizers are only big enough to keep travel documents in. That, and keys and money. You're really looking for a laptop sleeve for your normal bag, or a carry-on bag with a laptop compartment instead.
