Website tip: Eurocom's world powerplug map
Anyone that travels abroad with a laptop computer or other electronic gadgets soon find out that power outlets are different all over the world. The well known US standard plug is only really standard in USA, Canada, some of South America, and Saudi Arabia... The English has their own big bulky powerplug, shared with the Chinese, and the rest of Europe yet another plug. And then there's... Well, a few more.
How would you keep track? While there are a few multi-adaptors out there that actually work (see a list below of some I've found), it's still quite useful to have a dedicated adapter in your bag. Especially if you're like me and at times travel with 3 or 4 gadgets and a power strip.
If you want to see what powerplugs the world uses, head over to Eurocom's powerplug map now. And if you need an adapter or two, check out this list:
If you're based in the UK, see power adaptors from Amazon.co.uk.
