Taxco, or Taxco de Alarcón to give its full name, is an antique colonial silver-mining center located in northern Guerrero. Made a national monument in 1928, Taxco has been a tourist destination since, with trademark white houses with terracotta roofs.
The nicest traveller hangout in Taxco - Cafe Sasha. Owned by Chicagoan expat Sasha and her partner, it's a great place for a bite to eat, finding other travellers or a drink.
This family-run hostel in Cuernavaca is a great place to stay for the road-weary backpacker or older traveller on a budget. Clean, comfortable and very friendly.
