Doomed Merchant Mariners' Memorial, New York
Written by Chris on 11 April, 2010 in Destinations.
The Doomed Merchant Mariners' memorial in New York is often an overlooked tourist attraction. The statue sits right where the ferry leaves to view the Statue of Liberty. The statue is stationed just off of the shore and features three individuals. This memorial is a recreation from a scene from World War II.
While this sculpture in itself is not a tourist attraction, almost every sees this sculpture as they board a ferry to the Statue of Liberty in Battery Park. So, don't make a special trip to this memorial, simply understand and appreciate it as you get ready to view the Statue of Liberty.
