Brasserie Niel, Paris

This Tunisian restaurant in Paris’ 17th arrondissement, near the Arc de Triomphe, is a good choice for great North African food and a reasonable cost. Open until late and with a friendly feel.

For dinner we had two lamb-based dishes with couscous and rice. This was served with a starter salad, served on a large number of small plates, of different vegetables like turnip, swede, cucumber, and so on. Mostly marinated or with different sauces. A very good start to a meal as well as healthy.

The main dish itself also came with a good serving of steamed vegetables; aubergine, cauliflower, cabbage etc. The very tender lamb almost fell of the bone and had a great balance of marinade, pepper and salt.

With a decent bottle of Cotes du Rhone and coffees to finish, the entire meal came to a reasonable Euro 80.
