City Art Gallery, York, also well-known as York Art Gallery, is one the better art galleries in England. The gallery displays a large collection of wonderful paintings ranging from 14th century Italian panels to contemporary and 20th century ceramics works by LS Lowry and David Hockney.
The collection of paintings and ceramics are displayed in two floors, ground floor and first floor with various themes. The ground floor is the Main Gallery, re-opened in April 2008 after refurbishment work and the first floor is the newest gallery opened in September 2009.
